Should I Stay or Should I Go? YOU Have the Power!

For victims of domestic and intimate partner violence, knowing WHEN to move on can be very difficult.

“Should I Stay, or Should I Go”?

YOU Have the Power

by Dr. R. Adaya Schwartz

Anyone in a destructive relationship has asked themselves, “What is going on with my partner?” They ask this question and spend hours piecing together the evidence with whoever will listen. The search for the answer is also a search for hope. Finding clear answers is validating, reassuring of your sanity, and an important step in the healing journey.

This work - YOUR work of clarifying what is going on with your partner - is for YOU!

Whether the root problem is an emotional disturbance, trauma, addiction, abusive values, or a combination of them all, staying in a relationship where any of these is present will come at a cost to you emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Most battered women are in contact with current or former partners, sometimes by choice and sometimes by necessity.  Trauma Informed Care and Victim-Defined Advocacy are not simply listening and doing what a victim wants. Rather, they require participation in an active, dynamic, and culturally responsive information and resource-sharing process that creates and improves options to offer hope, healing, and empowerment.  At Lighthouse, we are here to walk with you through your journey.

“Please know that you are brave and courageous. Fervently praying that you find your way and receive the clarity, freedom, and love you so richly deserve.”

Prayers and Blessings,

Dr. R. Adaya Schwartz
